it's freezing, so we need some butternut squash soup (with chili powder and oil) followed by a very tasty rough Tuscan salami, sliced stayman apple, cornichons and a butter lettuce salad
sometimes it doesn't need anything more than coming straight from di Palo's with pizza bianca, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto di san daniele, cerignola black and green olives
it's Friday again, so it's off to Acme in Greenpoint (this time taking Jane D'Arensbourg) to pick up some fish. So, it's the freshest smoked pastrami salmon with cream cheese and cucumber, on an assortment of pumpernickel, sesame multi-seed bagels
a straightforward sandwich with good ingredients - prosciutto cotto, swiss ementhal and lettuce on an Almondine baguette. good chewing. Tomato soup in Elsbeth's mug from Amsterdam
Simple is best when you come straight from di Palo's with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma on warm pizza bianca. there's a bit of arugula and radicchio
Emily wont eat meat or cheese, but she's OK with a bit of tuna - so we have Italian tuna in olive oil with a mixed green salad and edamame with carrot and cilantro; a new really good flaxseed bread from Wholefoods and yellow squash soup
It's a two cheese lunch - the best caprino (the soft one) on toasted baguette; and aged pecorino with a watercress and cherry tomato salad with walnuts and a lemon mustard dressing.
