a huge slice of the french country bread from Almondine with finely sliced fennel, grilled portabello, grilled cipolline and balsamic dressing.
Now we're taking a lunch break - back on feb 11th

What we made for lunch. 01.27.09

looks similar to the previous entry, but tastes very different - today we have our last can of filetti di sgombro (mackerel fillets in olive oil) from La Coop in Rome, on ciabatta with cucumber, cornichons and a salad of endive and grape tomatoes - delicious

What we made for lunch. 01.24.09

a simple repeat and one of Elbeth's favorite for her last day at spring - whitefish salad from Acme with cornichons on multigrain baguette with a cucumber salad; tomato soup

still smiling after 5 months! Elsbeth returns to Holland but we hope to see her again in the future - doei!

What we made for lunch. 01.23.09

always a favorite: fresh mozzarella and prosciutto with arugula on pizza bianca. Todays shopping at di Palo's was completed successfully by Elsbeth

What we made for lunch. 01.22.09

another arctic day - Anna's soup of the day is homemade squash with sour cream and homemade french country croutons(!); side of two salami antipasto with baked ricotta and cornichons

What we made for lunch. 01.15.09

What we made for lunch. 01.14.09

grilled portobello (and chipoline) on baguette with thin red onion slices, pine nuts and a balsamic dressing; fennel salad

What we made for lunch. 01.12.09

it was going to be a sandwich, but took a different turn - so we have prosciutto cotto, along with that really good pecorino with saffron and peppercorn (from di Palo's), a mixed green salad with walnuts and a new organic multigrain baguette from Wholefoods. It's freezing cold, so tomato soup (with chili powder and olive oil) goes down well

What we made for lunch. 01.10.09

salmon from Acme with a lemon mustard mayo dressing along with another great leftover from the potluck - Sylvia Grieser's bavarian potato salad (even better after a couple of days) and a cucumber and parsley salad; pumpernickel bread.

What we made for lunch. 01.09.09

seconds! vegetarian Thai curry, courtesy of chef Jonathan Wu, who brought this to spring's potluck yesterday - so I can't tell you exactly what's in it but the heat came from sorano peppers - very good and very hot!

What we made for lunch. 01.08.09

green bean frittata with a mixed green and grape tomato salad

What we made for lunch. 01.07.09

Elsbeth, our gallery assistant makes us a traditional Dutch winter soup/stew called 'snert' which comprises of split peas, carrots, onions, fennel, sausage and beef.
OK, so it's not the most glamorous(!) but tasted good, even though apparently it should be thicker

What we made for lunch. 01.04.09

just the two of us today, so we get by with white fish (from Acme) on baguette with cornichon, chili powder and an endive and arugula salad

What we made for lunch. 01.03.09

What we made for lunch. 12.30.08

Anna has made some winter soup: swiss chard and cannellini with croutons, followed by some of that Tuscan salami, pecorino, pear and french country bread
